Weathermiser...... This amazing product contains rain, snow, and freeze sensors, and an optional wind sensor. Irrigation is interrupted before, during, and after precipitation, depending on the evaporation rate, wind level, and temperature. The Weathermiser actually senses relative humidity and evaporation rates, which rise and fall, respectively - just before precipitation begins. The relative humidity sensor is adjustable and interrupts irrigation when the ambient relative humidity exceeds the variable dial set point. The dial is set just above the highest average relative humidity for a given geographical area, at a specific time of day. The integrated temperature sensor is factory set to interrupt irrigation at temperatures below 37 degrees F. Recent tests completed in conjunction with the Denver Water Company, the New Mexico State Department of Building Services, and hundreds of industrial/residential users indicated an average of a 35% reduction in irrigation usage. Many participants experienced over 50% reduction! Installing and Mounting the Weathermiser Mount the Weathermiser outside, within 1000 feet of the timer clock after the following conditions are met: 1) use at least 18 gauge wire. 2) mounting area should be away from direct sunlight, sprinkler spray, and exhaust systems 3) caulk all weathermiser cabinet openings except the two side intake louvers, and the two lower drainage holes. this prevents water from entering the sensor chamber. 4) connect the two Weathermiser wires between the irrigation valve common wire(s) and the timer common terminal. 5) if the influence of sprinkler spray cannot be avoided, change the timer wiring sequence to water that zone last. Operational Test Turn the Weathermiser dial fully counter-clockwise, and using the timer manual mode, turn a visible irrigation zone on. After irrigation has begun, turn the dial clockwise until it stops. If you can interrupt irrigation at about the ambient relative humidity level, the installation is correct. Dial Settings The general rule is to set the Weathermiser dial to about 10% higher than the highest average relative during the start times programmed into the timer clock. The settings given in the Weathermiser instructions kit, will range between 35% and 90%, depending on the geographical area of usage, and the time of day that irrigation is scheduled.
